Jackies Musings.

We are now into November, the month of Veterans Day & Thanksgiving.. The work continues preparing the McQueen house for her most grand reappearance. Things are moving along & the anticipation is rising.

Much has been accomplished, still things to finalize, always a work in progress.. We all will be happy when things are in motion & the long awaited “Grand Opening “ is ready.. So many things remain in the planning stages.

I am at a loss to report much, but know that things will begin happening soon. It will be worth the wait. She is returning to her lovely & grand state of the art self.

Hoping for some wonderful things to report.

The restoration is nearing completion. All wo are involved are super excited & somewhat relieved. Please note that the story is not finished. This will be an ongoing work, always pointing towards another wonderful goal.

Per Billy Roback the 1st floor is looking very polished & lovely. Looks like furniture placement will be starting soon, the floors are coming to fruition, not exactly what was wanted but fresh, clean & an asset to the renovation.

The Perry Historical Society has a new web site, perryhistoricalsociety.com If you wish to donate time, labor or funds please feel free to contact the society. We certainly all are grateful for the continued support of this wonderful restoration.

Many new ideas are being processed to utilize this beautiful home. How fun it will be to see it come alive.

There will be Trick or Treat at the house….Halloween night

Many thanks to all the local people who were a part of this project.

Here we are into the middle of August, I have been checking on the progress of the renovation & I am liking what I am seeing, It will be lovely, graceful & will present to our public well..

Inside & out the beautiful house is being renovated. The once water stained ceilings are repaired, the walls are stripped of layers & layers of wall paper, and being beautifully painted. New electrical & bathroom facilities are in place The grounds are also being redone & looking very nice.

As of right now no major events are being planned for the near future BUT are in the planning stages. I cant wait for the unveiling & presentation to the public when the job is complete.

I am sure all who see her will be pleased The Historical Society is looking forward to the Grand Reopening..

Looking forward to future events.

Well, here we are into August, no stunning news regarding the completion of the Mc Queen House but behind the scenes things are happening. It is a huge process.

As with anything worthwhile it all takes time. The whole idea is to do it well , as close to the period as possible, make it attractive, appealing, functional & an asset to our small town activities. The plan is working

Hopefully soon I can post some of the forthcoming activities….. so many of us are looking forward to that day.

Along with many others we are working on & thinking of many new displays & events to make this an adventure for all ages. Much to do & think about….. it will happen ..

Externally things have been fairly quiet at the McQueen House, behind the scenes much is being accomplished. Ideas, designs, and preparation are underway. The hope is to be able to host events in the New Year, Multiple ideas for events are being closely looked at .It is going to be myriad of Social Events that can & will involve local talent, including artists, musicians, children, food & fun. Indeed something to look forward to.

We would all welcome any & all ideas to increase, enhance participation & induce the public to come & see what we will have to offer .The beauty & history of the Mc Queen house has much to offer. Generating interest in Perry History & Culture a plus. Here is a chance to bring interest & people to our small town atmosphere, an opportunity to learn, enjoy & cherish what was.

Stay tuned, the goal is coming to fruition.

The Perry Historical Societies Mac Queen House, is steadily making progress, lots to do to make it just the way we want it , the decor will be as close to period as possible, there are some wonderful & interesting artifacts inside her walls, many or most donated by local families. As we can, different businesses, families, newspaper articles & ever so much more will be in a rotational display for our visitors to enjoy. The home will be set up very similar to the way it looked all those years ago. Looking at hosting many events to entice us all to have some fun year around. The dream/plan is Ice Cream Socials, concerts, cars shows, popcorn night, weddings, music in the parlor…… lots of fun while we showcase this stately & beautiful old home.

The long journey to return to her majestic grace is coming to fruition. I had the pleasure a few days ago to see the next phase of the “ Grand Ole Ladies” restoration. She will be magnificent.

Seeing her looking so elegant even at this stage of the game is the result of many long hours of planning, pushing, hard work, much needed funding, and the leadership of Billy Roback, nice job, & kudos to you for taking a stance & following through, that is not the whole story, many others have contributed the blood sweat & possibly even some tears to make this transformation possible. She can & will be a wonderful asset to our community. So many local families have contributed photos, articles, & special mementos to make this ( soon we hope) a destination go to to explore our local heritage. Not only the museum, but imagine a lovely wedding in the Parlor, a string quartet playing period music, the old newly refurbished piano merrily playing Christmas Carols., a farmers market in the summer, Trick or Treating in the Fall Santa Mrs. Claus greeting the children at Christmas, just a few of the events that are in the planning stages.

Oh yes this will truly be a huge asset to our small but forward thinking community. The vision is nearing completion. Hopefully in just a few short weeks & she will again be a center of activity for all of us.
